A COOL BUT SUNNY SATURDAY MORNING BROUGHT FOUR SHOOTERS OUT TO ENJOY SEVERAL HOURS OF SHOOTING FUN.

Ed Stern and Tim Higgins started the CMP club in 1998. Shoots are geared toward beginner and veteran shooters alike. Although we strictly adhere to CMP format and range safety rules, we are very generous in allowing "alibis" during a match to insure every shooter has the proper time to complete all shooting. Many of our matches allow new or novice shooters the luxury of no-pressure competition in order to become comfortable with the format and rules of a sanctioned CMP John C. Garand match. Most shoots are John C. Garand formats, shooting from 30-50 shots for record at 100 and 200 yard targets. Slow and rapid course of fire segments in standing, sitting and prone positions are generally the basic matches. The matches are held on the rifle range at RSC several times throughout the year. Competitors become members of Kent County Rifle Club and Junior Division, a registered CMP affiliated club. See www.odcmp.com for more information. Shooters that complete the match are issued a membership card for one year in Kent County Rifle Club, plus they are presented with a signed, dated letter addressed to the CMP stating they have completed a John C. Garand course of fire in a CMP sanctioned club match. This allows an individual to purchase in-stock military firearms and several varities of ammunition from the CMP. You do not have to be a member of Rockford Sportsman Club to shoot in our matches, though non-members are encouraged to Join RSC. Check the RSC website for the next shoot in June. Matches generally are on Saturday and begin at 10:00. AM. Questions can be directed to Tim Higgins 616-874-2507 or [email protected].
